Maki Ogawa & Family Safe

by Pikko on March 13, 2011

I am sorry that I haven’t though to post this before, but I just wanted to let our book fans know that Makiko Ogawa and her family are safe after the deadly earthquake in Japan. I emailed her that day and received a reply a couple of hours later and she informed me that she had picked up her two sons and they were waiting for word from her husband. She has since heard from him and though he could not get home due to transportation being shut down, he was safe. Although I’m sure they’re having a hard time dealing with the various issues coming up in the wake of the quake, it’s always good to know that people are safe.

If you would like to make a donation to the relief efforts in Japan, the American Red Cross has the option to channel your donation directly to that specific effort. When donating through other means, please always be careful that you are donating to and/or through a reliable and reputable organization.

Just seeing some of the footage makes me almost burst into tears. The lives of all those people are being washed away. Having friends there also makes me nervous for them. I’m glad to hear that Maki and her family are alright, one less family to worry over. I just pray that there are many others who are as lucky as them.
